Meet the DJs
  1. DJ Lady P Beats
    >>
Hi all, I'™m DJ Lady P. I Ha™ve had an interest in music since the mid 80s and really got into collecting vinyl towards the end of the decade ('87). I've always been a lover of underground music, and listening to pirate radio stations, e.g. Kiss, Lazer & Sub Zero. I would be the one up late at night recording the latest releases on a tape recorder, trying to record shows without the talking. I used to get some of my vinyl from Body Music in North London, Silver Back Records, West London and Reckless Records in Soho to name a few. I first tried mixing when my brother was moving and he gave me his gold-plated Technics 1210s. Then I started helping a friend out doing a Disco night for 5 years at The Spread Eagle in Rayleigh, eventually taking over. Most of my time got taken up sorting out playlists on CDs, so I did not have the time to play my vinyl. However, Disco wasn't really my thing so I did a few private parties instead, which were fun. Then a friend introduced me to TJO and he invited me to his for a mix, and after a half hour "audition" he put me live on Twisted Radio!! He thought I did very well and lent me his spare CDJs as I did not have any. He was full of support and encouragement, urging me to keep at it. A few years down the line and TJO once again gave me an opportunity to play on the radio, this time with HorizonFM.net. I jumped at the chance. I played with Horizon for 3 years, starting with Minimal/Tech House, moving onto Electro and then Progressive House, making some great new friends along the way. Since then I have played on a few other radio stations, but nothing as regular. I've also started organizing my own events - "œInfected," which is Progressive house and Hard Trance and "Infected Jungle," which is... Jungle!! Hard work but worth it.

  3. DJ Synergy

DJ Synergy taught himself to mix in 1992 after hearing some rave tapes that a college friend gave to him. Prior to that he liked listening to artists like Adamski, L.F.O, 808 State and various other dance acts. His friend thought he'd like rave music so he gave him a few tapes - Carl Cox, Top Buzz & Grooverider. He was right, and Paul was soon asking how these tapes were made. After hearing his friends explanation he decided to save up for some Technics 1210s and a mixer. He soon picked up the basics of beat matching and using the mixer and started to grow in confidence. At the same time he was going out clubbing with friends and he'd often return from a heavy night out with various vinyl releases written up his arms!! About 6 months later he'd met enough other local up and coming DJs to get together and create a pirate radio station, called Sub Zero FM. His weekends were spent juggling between clubbing and doing the station. Fast forward to today and he has most recently played for Alternative Solution and Infected Jungle, 2 local events. Nowadays he's mainly heard playing Jungle, Drum & Bass, and more recently, Minimal Tech/House and Progressive House. His motto is, "If it's got beats and bass, I can mix it."

  7. Craig Watson

Genre: Deep House/ Funky House/ Old Skool/Trance/Scouse House After spending large amounts of his childhood going to 'help' his dad DJ in the local social club, Craig thought it was about time to step it up a level. Luckily coming from such a musical city he didn't have to look far to develop his skills. He attended a local DJ academy and was fortunate enough to be guided by local artist, Ultrabeats Ian Redman. First Bass DJ school was located above 3 beat records in Liverpool city centre. His Saturdays soon consisted of buying all the vinyl he could afford and learning his new passion. Once he had the confidence he entered a DJ competition in a club called Qube located in Rawtenstall. Craig was up against some tough competition, some of the other DJ's had years more experience but he kept his nerve and manage to win the competition. By now he well and truly had the bug. The following years Craig had residencies, guest sets and held events in many venues across Liverpool and even played as far away as Marmaris, Turkey. He also realise some of his childhood dreams by playing in the Pleasure Rooms & Garlands, two clubs where he spent many nights on the dancefloor wishing that one day it would be him on the decks.
